Vacaville is trying to shed its 'cow-town' image. City officials are going up scale as they attempt to attract an airplane builder to make its home there. Airplane maker Icon constructs a light-sport aircraft it sells for around 200-thousand dollars. City leaders are offering many incentives to the company in hopes they'll settle in Vacaville.
One proposed incentive: a 75-percent tax rebate on all planes Icon sells. Another incentive would be splitting the hotel tax with Icon on rooms rented by customers and employees. The small plane maker is looking at cities in Texas and Arizona as well, they say they'll make up their minds in the coming month.
