Hundreds of thousands of Californians are facing the end of jobless benefits.
Unless Congress and the president can come to a last minute agreement on extending benefits, unemployment checks are coming to an end for tens of thousands of Californians.
The Employment Development Department has started sending out notices alerting the long-term unemployed that their jobless benefits will end Dec. 28.
Those who are at the end of their 99 weeks of unemployment insurance will be immediately affected.
That amounts to roughly 222,000 people. Overall, there are more than 617,000 receiving benefits in California at this time.
