SACRAMENTO -- The communications chair of the Sacramento County Democratic Party resigned after his social media blunder went viral.
The Sacramento County Democratic Party received some unwated attention after their spokesman wished a painful death for a Republican speechwriter.
The communications chair for the organization has apologized for wishing a Republican speechwriter's children a painful death.
But it was too late. The chair for the Democratic Party of Sacramento County wrote "The comments by our volunteer communications chair are appalling and inexcusable." Brauer's resignation was asked for and accepted.
Brauer's lashing out came in response to a Tweet from Amanda Carpenter, who is a speechwriter for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, of Texas.
Carpenter's initial Tweet was celebrating GOP victories over gun control, military action in Syria, and amnesty, ending with "We can defund Obamacare, too."
That's when Allan Brauer replied "May your children all die from debilitating, painful and incurable diseases."
Brauer then apologized on Twitter, saying he was upset and lashed out. Carpenter accepted his apology in a responding Tweet.
@amandacarpenter May your children all die from debilitating, painful and incurable diseases.— allanbrauer (@allanbrauer) September 20, 2013
