SACRAMENTO -- There's a delay for people trying to get their unemployment payments as the California Employment Development Department is updating their system.
The EDD said the reason for the delay is the depatments need to shut down a database that stores benefit claim records.
Loree Levy with the EDD said the new updates to the system allow for greater efficiency and more convenience.
The shutdown today prevented the EDD staff from processing applications for unemployment insurance, disability insurance and paid family leave and payments during the period.
Customer service and call centers will be closed Monday at EDD, as well.
